PTE Tips & Tricks for Speaking Module

1. Personal Introduction

This section allows you to speak about yourself to the selected institutes. Note: This item does not have a score. A countdown will begin until the microphone starts to work and record. You’ve got 25 seconds to get your content ready. When you hear a buzzer, you should start talking about yourself.

 If you speak before the microphone goes on, your voice will not be recorded. Don’t panic, and speak clearly. Your response will only be recorded once. Before the progress bar reaches the end, you should be done with your speaking. The word ‘Recording’ will be replaced with the word ‘Completed.’

2. Read Aloud

You have 40 seconds to prepare and 40 seconds to respond. Use the 40 seconds of preparation time to speak the entire sentence out aloud once in a soft tone. Do not try to read it in your head. In the last 5 seconds, read the difficult words and the first sentence once again to ensure that you won’t fumble at the start when the recording starts. Simply read the passage aloud, without pausing, and follow the rhythm. If you pronounce anything incorrectly, don’t try to correct it.

In Describe Image and Retell Lecture, you should read in the same way. As a result, speak at a normal pace. Every day, read the newspaper for at least half an hour and listen to the audio on Google if you think you mispronounced anything. Listen to any audio source, such as the BBC news station. To increase your concentration and listening abilities, don’t watch the video but rather listen. Practice all of the questions from the most frequently asked ones.

3. Repeat sentence

If you don’t start speaking right after the recording starts, the recording will end after 3 seconds of silence. If the words are pronounced incorrectly, don’t try to correct them. Understand and remember the meaning of the keywords. Even if you forget 2 or 3 words, try to repeat the sentence in the same order.

Close your eyes, listen to the sentence, and break it down into three phrases to make it easier to understand.

Remember the rest of the sentence and write the first half of it in the erasable notepad along with the audio.

Tip: If you forget the keywords, just speak fluently whatever you remember.

4. Describe image

You need to describe an image that will display on your computer screen. You have 25 seconds to prepare and 40 Seconds to give answer. Once the given time (25 seconds) is over. You’ll hear a short tone. Then start speaks immediately. Before the progress bar reaches the end, finish speaking. The word recording will be replaced by the word ‘completed.’

Do not be hesitant. Avoid using the words ‘hmmm’ or ‘a….’ in your speech. It is more important to maintain your fluency than to explain everything you notice. If the graphic has too much data for your speech, highlight only the most important details.

5. Re-tell sentences

As mentioned on the label, you must retell the lecture in your own words. Just after the audio clip ends, you’ll hear an academic lecture which you must repeat. You have 10 seconds to prepare and 40 seconds to give answer. Give your answer in 35 seconds or less and always end with a conclusion. This part will begin right after the Describe Image section. It can be difficult to identify whether it is Describe Image or Re-tell Lecture. As a result, read the instructions carefully each time.

To speak fluently without fumbling, remember up to 5 key phrases (not keywords). If you use the template, do not capture more than this; otherwise, you may go above 40 seconds. If the exam center allows it, write the template in the erasable notebook before the test begins.
